Steps and wheelchairs do not really mix as most of you can imagine. This was one thing that rehab did not show us much about. It was about a week after I had came home from the inpatient rehab facility, we went over to my cousins house for dinner (his wife is an OT). My mom and dad were getting ready to carry me up the steps and my cousins wife stopped us and showed us how to "bump" me up the steps in my chair. That right there was one of the biggest things that we had learned and changed my whole fear of steps. We usually have someone in front of the chair as well, for extra support.
